What does Cleaning For A Reason do?
We partner with professional residential maid services who are insured and/or bonded and perform background checks on their employees to participate in our foundation. The companies have agreed to take 2 patients at a time and offer four free cleanings – one a month for four months as a way to give back to their community. We accept cancer patient applications online, receive doctor’s verification of treatment and match the patients with our partner maid services.

Who qualifies for the service?
Women 18 years of age or older, currently undergoing cancer treatment for any type of cancer.

Why women only?
We do provide this service only to females with any type of cancer. As with any nonprofit organization, the resources are limited. The demand is always greater than what we are capable of handling regardless as to whom we serve. We understand that males undergo the same life crisis issues; however, we cannot serve everyone. Daily we have inquiries to assist individuals with disabilities, heart problems, MS, asthma and various other chronic medical conditions which all have a need for the services. Naturally, the list is endless. We hope you understand that we have to stay focused on what we have decided to be our primary mission.

I am a Cancer Patient – how do I register?
Step 1 – Check under the “Locations Tab” on our website to see if we have a partner in your area. Our maid service partners are local businesses that serve their business area. Typically, they will travel approximately 10-15 miles from their business location.

Step 2 – If there is a maid service in your area, register by clicking the “Cancer Patient” tab. We accept 50 applications Monday through Thursday at 12 noon Central time. Fill out the online application. After you have successfully completed the application, a screen will display informing you that we need a doctor verification sent to our facility. The fax number where to be sent will display. Also, request that the doctor’s office type your name on the form. 

Our maid service partners agree to take a minimum 2 patients at a time and clean once a month for four months. After your application is complete and your doctor verification is received, we will contact the maid service partner in your area. If they are available, to take you, they will contact you to schedule your cleanings. If they are not available and are currently servicing the maximum number of patients already, you will receive an email from us informing you that you will have to reapply at a later date.

Also, we add approximately 25 – 35 new partners each month. If you do not see your area currently covered, check back periodically. The website is updated twice a week and is accurate.

Where are you located?
The foundation headquarters is located in Lewisville, TX. We have maid service partners located in all 50 states, D.C. and Canada. Check to see if we have a maid service partner in your area by clicking the “Locations” tab on our website.  The application process is handled through our website, not through our partner locations. Please do not contact the maid service partner directly. We handle the application process on their behalf.

Can I register for someone else?
When the online application process is open, we ask for patient information such as name, address, and contact info. We also ask basic house information such as size, number of rooms, etc. There is also a release of liability waiver that needs to be approved. The last step is a doctor must fax proof of the patient being in current cancer treatment. As long as you have this information, you can register for someone else. Cleaning For A Reason cannot call the doctor’s office  to verify treatment.

I want to volunteer?
We do not use volunteers for our services. We partner with  maid services that are insured and/or bonded and perform background checks on their employees. Our corporate headquarters is in Lewisville, TX and we do use volunteers at our facility. If you are not located in the Lewisville, TX area, contact one of our partners in your area and volunteer to do fundraisers, office work, etc. Our partners are listed under the “Locations Tab”

I am a Cancer Center – Can I get some brochures to place in our lobby?
We are just over 4 years old and while our partner maid services are increasing at a rate of approximately 25 – 35 new maid services each month, we are unable to handle the daily volume that comes in at this time. Because the demand for our services is so great, we request that you NOT publish information regarding our services. Our maid service partners agree to take a minimum of two patients at a time and give 4 free cleanings, one a month for four months. Therefore, patient expectation has to be managed. Until we become larger, increase our staff, increase the number of maid services that participate, and receive additional funding, we need to maintain a small profile.  Our goal is to expand our services as fast as we can, but until then we hope you understand our limited resource standing.

How can I donate financially?
We rely on donations to grow and advance our foundation.  We accept donations via PayPal at cleaningforareason.org under the “Donations” tab.  We also accept checks at our Cleaning For A Reason headquarters: P.O. Box 146; Lewisville, TX  75077.
